GeoLogica sponsor KeyFacts Access for Students at the University of Glasgow

31/08/2022

GeoLogica, a company founded by people with a passion for geology and a desire to provide the best learning environments for training and education in the geosciences, has agreed to sponsor access to KeyFacts Energy's 'Energy Country Review' online resource for University of Glasgow's geoscience and engineering students.

In response to the challenge of recruiting new talent into the oil and gas sector, KeyFacts Energy provide an opportunity for companies to help university students gain a valuable insight into the industry from a global perspective.

KeyFacts Energy offers a subscription choice that includes an option to nominate a university anywhere in the world. In return, the nominated university will benefit from unrestricted access to the 'Energy Country Review' service. The scheme offers graduates an important insight into the oil and gas, renewable and service company sectors and promotes awareness of the global energy industry among the next generation of geoscientists and engineers. The initiative also offers the sponsoring company a chance to raise its profile within the all-important graduate market.

Feedback suggests that although well qualified and technically proficient when leaving university, post-graduate students often have limited knowledge about the industry they are joining. Accessing this valuable ‘non-technical’ resource will ensure students from geoscience and engineering departments are familiar with the industry they plan to join and will provide an opportunity to identify and research potential employers from the oil and gas, renewable and service sectors.

Professor Gioia Falcone, Rankine Chair of Energy Engineering at the University of Glasgow said:
“We are extremely grateful to KeyFacts Energy and to GeoLogica for having been granted unrestricted access to the 'Energy Country Review' service.  This will support our ongoing research in the geo-energy transition, as well as our geoscience and engineering students who are learning how to deliver net-zero energy systems for a sustainable future.”

Simon Baker, Managing Director at GeoLogica Limited, commented:
GeoLogica has established a very good working relationship with staff from the James Watt School of Engineering at the University of Glasgow, in particular in the field of geothermal energy systems. We are delighted to provide sponsorship and access to KeyFacts Energy for the University. The Key Facts Energy Country Review provides up to date and crucial intelligence for workers and researchers in the field of energy production and we trust that it will prove useful to staff and students alike in the quest to shift the world’s energy use to low carbon systems.

Chris Pettit, Managing Director at KeyFacts Energy added:
"In response to the challenge of creating awareness of this exciting industry to the next generation of geoscientists and engineers, we are delighted that GeoLogica has agreed to sponsor access to the 'Energy Country Review' resource for students at the University of Glasgow. In this critical period of energy transition, students reviewing the option of a career in the energy sector will now have access to a continually updated database of more than 2,600 country-specific upstream and renewable energy companies in 144 countries."
