23/08/2022

Hydra Offshore & Subsea Construction recently purchased the SAT-9, a 15-man saturation diving system complete with Self-Propelled Hyperbaric Lifeboats (SPHL). It is American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) classed and International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA) compliant. SAT-9 is capable of diving to depths of up to 1,000 feet of sea water (FSW) and has a three-man side launched diving bell.

Hydra President and CEO Trevor Davis explains that Hydra’s latest system will allow Hydra to expand its business opportunities by offering a wider target net of oil and gas companies.

“We decided to acquire SAT-9 to help grow our diving services line. With the addition of this system and specifically the SPHL, we will now be targeting the major oil and gas companies both domestically and globally,” said Davis.

In addition to the SAT-9 diving system, Hydra’s fleet of vessels includes the M/V Subsea Responder I, a 220-foot DP2 DSV, M/V Subsea Responder II, a 240-foot DP2 MPSV, M/V Subsea Responder III, a 251-foot DP2 OSV and the DLB Chickasaw, a 280-foot DP1 DLB.

Hydra’s mission is, “To add value to the oil and gas industry by providing professional marine construction services safely and economically.” Hydra offers clients all of the advantages of the SAT-9 combined with their commitment to client services, safety and cost-effective solutions with each project.

Hydra continues to expand its business opportunities and works internally to provide clients subsea support vessels that can be used for multipurpose marine construction and deep-water oil and gas projects.
