Hiretech invests in young talent through paid internships and mentoring

01/08/2022

Hiretech is working with Career Ready – a social mobility charity - to provide young people as they transition from S5 into S6 with a paid, four-week internship this summer, alongside 18 months of mentoring support from an employee in the business.

Teigan McGregor, an S6 pupil at Hazelhead Academy, is undertaking an administration placement at Hiretech, based at Fintray by Dyce.

Working within the Hiretech team and supported by dedicated line manager and mentor Samantha Mitchell, Teigan will have the opportunity to meet and network with colleagues, develop important employability skills, contribute to our business and to team projects.

Samantha Mitchell, Operations Supervisor at Hiretech, commented,
"It is important to recognise the challenges faced by young people today as they make decisions toward future careers, the qualifications required for work roles, and the challenge of standing out from the crowd when applying for jobs. I am therefore delighted to be mentoring Teigan during the summer period, sharing some of the experience I gained whilst looking for work and the knowledge and skills which I have learned in the workplace."

Anne Wexelstein, Career Ready Director for Scotland said,
“We’d like to thank Hiretech Limited and their people for working with us to invest in young talent. Paid internships and mentoring are key in helping the young people we focus on develop the workplace skills and confidence they need to succeed in the world of work, and on more of a level playing field. I’m always encouraging other businesses to join us in giving these young people the opportunities and support they need and contributing to making real The Young Person’s Guarantee.”

Career Ready is a social mobility charity that works with employers, their employees, schools, and local authorities to provide young people in S5/S6 with aa deep, immersive programme of a paid internship, mentoring, skills masterclasses, and workplace visits, alongside their school studies. Each student receives a paid internship at the workplace of their mentor.

  • 72% of employers would hire their Career Ready intern
