ATPI Group strengthens growth and tracks towards post-Covid recovery

26/05/2022

The ATPI Group, a leading global travel management and events specialist, has reported a strong year of performance as the business edges closer to achieving pre-pandemic revenue levels.

For financial year 2021 (January- December), ATPI delivered operating profit of £17.5 million across its wholly-owned and joint-venture businesses, representing a 60 per cent increase over the same period last year.  Furthermore, despite the challenges of the world wide Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on global travel, ATPI has also generated profits throughout the previous two years.

In 2021, in addition to the significant increase in revenue, ATPI completed an acquisition, further expanded its international network, made several strategic investments and launched new services. This included:

  • The purchase of German travel agency Hamburg Sud Reiseagentur GmbH in March 2021, which was rebranded as ATPI Hamburg
  • The addition of network partners across Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and South America
  • Investment in the Singapore-based maritime operating system technology business Greywing; and
  • As part of its commitment to sustainability in travel, ATPI has launched a full CO2 measurement and offset service  – ATPI Halo

Ian Sinderson, ATPI Group CEO, said:
"Despite curtailed global travel during much of 2021 and restrictions that impacted how we all do business, we’ve achieved stellar performance and continued growth. We have continued to maintain our pace of new investments and innovations, and stayed focused on the things that matter – delivering expert service to our clients around the world. While making huge strides towards reaching our 2019 levels of revenue, we have also maintained and grown profitability each month of the year.”

In a step-change for the travel management industry, ATPI launched the new ATPI Halo division in September 2021 to support clients in their goals to become more sustainable and allow travel to lead the charge for carbon reduction throughout a business. Minimising environmental impact, achieving sustainability excellence and the management of robust carbon offsetting schemes are just some of the areas of excellence for ATPI Halo.

The commitment to new investments continued into 2022 with the first few months of the year seeing the acquisition of the Australia based Travel Management Company (TMC) the Travel Authority.

The ATPI Group has also continued to invest in TripStax Technologies Limited, the dynamic new business travel tech provider, following the strategic decision to release ATPI’s proprietary travel management solutions to the wider TMC market as a separate, autonomous business. The global TMC is now a flagship customer of TripStax’s ground-breaking eco-system of cutting-edge travel tech applications.

The ATPI Group operates from 100+ offices worldwide, and has leading operations in corporate travel, corporate event management, online travel technology and specialist travel management for a number of key industries including the energy and shipping sectors.
