EBN launches new infographic on Energy in the Netherlands

16/01/2018

Where do we get our energy from? And what do we use it for? And which emissions of greenhouse gases are released? These are a few questions that from now on can be found at a glance with the infographic about the Dutch energy system. The infographic tells the story about the extraction of energy sources, import and export, which are converted and for which end use sectors consume the energy, the so-called energy functions: heat, power & light, mobility and raw materials. Moreover, it is visible to which greenhouse gases this leads.

Last year, EBN made a first step with the infographic "The Netherlands, Land of Energy" and because of the great need that this information appeared to have EBN has made an update and deepening. Public sources have once again been leading in compiling the information. By placing the information in a clear, appealing infographic, EBN expects this to make the discussion about our energy easier.

Jan Willem van Hoogstraten, CEO of EBN:
"We find it important that everyone in the Netherlands has a fundamental knowledge base about energy, from school children to the elderly. The policy choices about our energy in the transition have consequences for everyone. With the infographic we hope to contribute to an informed dialogue."

To support this goal, EBN also launched a website next to the new annual overview. On the website Energie in Nederland.nl, in addition to requesting the annual overview, it is also possible to look back at how the system has been developed over the years. Interesting information can then be easily shared on social media. This makes it possible to provide the discussion about energy both physically and via the internet with a common fact base.
