Petrogas spuds 'Birgitta East' Appraisal wellin the UK Central North Sea

01/02/2022

Petrogas North Sea Ltd, (a part of Petrogas E&P LLC, head quartered in Muscat, Oman), spudded the 'Birgitta East' appraisal well (Block 22/19a) on the 30th of January 2022. Petrogas is pleased to be working again with the HDJU Maersk Resilient, for their first operated well on the UK Continental Shell. The well is appraising the 22/19a-1 gas discovery 'Birgitta' drilled in 1984, and is anticipated to last 50 days, TD’ing at around 4099m MD.

Nick Dancer, Director of Petrogas North Sea.
“We are excited to finally begin our appraisal well on Birgitta, which if successful, should allow for a relatively quick and straightforward development, unlocking a longtime stranded gas discovery to be brought into production, complimenting the domestic gas production of the UK.”

Kingsuk Sen, VP Petrogas Europe and CCO
“This is an important step in broadening Petrogas’ activities within Europe, and applying our expertise gained in the Netherlands to the appraisal and hopefully development of the Birgitta Field.”

Usama Al Barwani, CEO Petrogas E&P LLC
“I’m pleased that Petrogas is expanding our operations to the UK, and look forward to this being the first step in creating a new production base for Petrogas E&P LLC.”
