Ventient Energy to acquire scale operational wind and solar build in Spain

27/12/2021

As part of its continued building of a strong, leading, diversified renewable energy business in Europe, Ventient Energy has extended its Iberian business, signing a purchase agreement for a total of 443 MW capacity, comprising 203 MW of onshore wind and the future buildout of 240 MW of hybridised solar which will be built on ventient’s onshore wind sites.

This will complement Ventient’s existing Iberian wind and hybrid solar growth opportunities, paving the way to a business of over 2GW in Iberia and 790 MW in Spain.

“This acquisition is a step of great significance for Ventient. It grows our major commitment to the Spanish energy system and strengthens our relations with the communities and authorities in the region of Castilla y Leon. Together with our current wind farms, we are already broadening our business through creating state-of-the-art hybrid plants. These will provide the most efficient energy generation from each site. In time we expect evolve our business still further.

This step is also important for the broader energy business we are building in Europe, which already stands as the largest independently owned onshore wind group, and very importantly the sector leader in ESG. We are particularly delighted to take this step with Vapat, whose long-term leadership in the region of Castilla y Leon is well recognised and respected”. Said Ventient Energy CEO, Mark Jones.

The sale is expected to conclude early next year, subject to regulatory approval.
