Intoware, a UK leading workflow software provider, today announced the promotion of Lee McDonald from head of development to chief technology officer. In this new role, Lee will lead the development of Intoware’s industrial work-instruction platform, WorkfloPlus to modernise the frontline workforce through connected, digital working.

As CTO Lee will accelerate the development of WorkfloPlus to do much more than enable enterprises to digitise industrial processes by going paperless, but to gain critical knowledge from the data that digitisation provides. By helping the frontline field workers to reduce down-time for industrial assets, improving operational resilience and staff safety, while driving compliance.

In 2019 Lee joined Intoware, as a high growth start-up the company was moving fast and reactively. It was clear that to improve the delivery of WorkfloPlus, best practices needed to be put in place. Lee and his team responded by challenging themselves to find leaner, more efficient working methods that would deliver not only great service, but new innovations too.

Prior to joining Intoware Lee worked for Nottingham based data and technology business ERT that supports the clinical research market. “It was a great opportunity, but working in the highly regulated pharma industry meant that it could be slow moving, so as part of the R&D team we delivered market disrupting products that later contributed to the company’s acquisition.” Said Lee McDonald.

After being in the pharma industry for four years, Intoware offered Lee the freedom of being able to rapidly innovate and deliver software to help enterprises meet new and emerging challenges as part of the Internet of things (IoT) including the cloud, AI and wearables which is very exciting. 

Lee McDonald, continues: “Intoware is now at a great stage in its development, the launch of WorkfloPlus for web next month, will significantly enhance performance of this simple, easy to use platform that is accessed via the desktop, smartphones, tablets and assisted reality headsets from our partner, RealWear. 

“This latest iteration will ensure that our customers can not only digitise, but fully integrate this application into the wider business, by injecting business intelligence into their existing enterprise systems with smart digital workflows so they function together for greater visibility of both people and processes, unlocking new business growth opportunities.”

Nottingham has been Lee’s home for well over ten years, having graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2010 with a BSc in Computer Software Engineering, he now lives in Nuthall.
