C-NLOPB Launches New Data and Information Hub

06/10/2021

The Canada-Newfoundland and Labrador Offshore Petroleum Board (C-NLOPB) is excited to launch a new, map-based Data and Information Hub (Information Hub), created and developed by Board staff to modernize access to technical information housed by the C-NLOPB.

Over the past 18 months, staff have uploaded over 40,000 individual files to the Information Hub. Stakeholders will now be able to locate and download technical information from one location, increasing the amount of technical information and the speed with which it can be obtained.

The following files will be immediately accessible and available for download/requested through the Information Hub:

  • Active Licence Shapefiles;
  • Well Shapefiles;
  • Well Inventory: including items such as reports, core photography and a listing of well logs;
  • 2D and 3D Seismic Inventory: including items such as reports, images and a listing of SEG-Y; and
  • 2D and 3D Seismic Shapefiles.

Information being moved into the Hub will remain on the current C-NLOPB website for a period of time prior to removal. A link to the Information Hub can be found on each page of the current C-NLOPB website affected during Phase 1 of this transition. It is important to note that for anyone who does not wish to use the Information Hub, all publicly releasable information will continue to be available by request via information@cnlopb.ca. Details on future phases will be announced as they become available.

In addition to this new Information Hub, the C-NLOPB has also updated its policy on Disclosure of Digital Data and Information, concerning the release of digital data that has passed its non-disclosure period in a digital format.
