DWO strengthens its team on Communication

18/04/2021

Deep Wind Offshore has announced the recent hire of Silje Rødeseike as Head of Communications and Public Affairs. Silje, who has a degree in political science, has previously worked for the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO) as a Political Advisor, and most recently, as a Project Manager at Haugaland Vekst, where she focused on regional development.

"Deep Wind Offshore is a progressive company in an exciting industry that continues to grow. We are facing a green shift that requires significantly more renewable energy. Offshore Wind can deliver large amounts of clean, renewable energy to fulfill the electrical needs and meet the climate goals set out for us to achieve", says Rødeseike.

Deep Wind Offshore has an experienced management organization complemented by robust industrial owners who represent a unique combination of competencies within renewable energy project development, grid development, and shipping/offshore.

"I look forward to working with a competent team with well-established local owners which continues to build an organization that is efficient and sustainable as it positions the company towards offshore wind projects", says Rødeseike.

Communication - an essential tool for a growing company

Silje will work closely with Lasse Fredheim, who has worked with communication and public affairs since Deep Wind Offshore was established. Her responsibilities will include communication activities both internally and externally.

"Effective and good communication is essential for the development of an organization. Dialogue and close collaboration at an early stage with authorities, fisheries, other ocean users, and interest groups are vital to ensure that offshore wind farms are developed in a sustainable manner", says Rødeseike.

The company has grand ambitions for the future and is looking to add more headcount to their team, and is now about to hiring an Engineering Manager and an Electrical Engineer.

"I am pleased to have both Lasse and Silje onboard. Their knowledge and experience from communication, politics, and strategic work will strengthen the company on our way to become a leading offshore wind player both in Norway and Internationally", says Knut Vassbotn, CEO in Deep Wind Offshore.

Rødeseike holds an MA in comparative politics from the University of Bergen. As a part of the degree, she studied one semester in Berlin at Freie Universität, followed by an internship at the West Norway Office in Brussels. She also recently finished communication studies at Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences.

"I look forward to contributing to Deep Wind Offshore`s growth and development", says Rødeseike who started this week.

Exciting times ahead

The worlds demand for energy is transforming and the market for offshore wind is predicted to increase significantly in the upcoming decades. Countries worldwide have started to recognize the demand and potential of offshore wind and are spending substantial resources on this sector, both in floating and bottom fixed offshore wind installations. But time is of the essence and it is predicted that it will take between 7-10 years to deliver a fully integrated offshore wind project. If Norway is to take a leading role in this industry, then we need to have suitable framework conditions in place.

"It is an exciting time for large-scale offshore wind development in Norway. The Ministry of Petroleum and Energy will soon be launching guidelines regarding the licensing process for offshore wind power projects, and we hope it will be launched before the summer", says CCO in deep Wind Offshore, Hans Petter Øvrevik.
