Getech appoints Emma Parker-Wilson as Non-Executive Director

26/07/2021

Getech, a provider of geoscience data, knowledge and software to the energy industry, is pleased to announce the appointment of Emma Parker-Wilson as a Non-Executive Director to the Board of Getech with immediate effect, and that Chris Flavell, a current Non-Executive Director, shall retire from the board today.

Emma has more than 17 years’ experience as an Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) and mining operations specialist. Emma is currently Principal in charge of Sustainable Business Opportunities at Anglo American PLC, a multi-national, multi-commodity mining company.

At Anglo American, Emma is responsible for identifying and delivering commercial value, leveraging Anglo American’s sustainability practices across areas of business development, marketing and finance. In particular, her role focuses on leading innovative approaches to sustainability-led value creation.

Emma’s appointment to the Getech Board brings vast mining industry experience and expertise as the Company applies its core earth science and geospatial expertise to the energy transition and diversifies into adjacent energy sectors, including the mining of strategic minerals.

Having founded the Musangu Foundation, which supports mining companies’ approach to social investment, and Impact Capital Africa, which supports impact investing in Zambia, Emma also brings strong entrepreneurial experience to Getech.

The appointment of Emma continues the board transition process aimed at aligning the Non-Executive expertise with the Company’s strategy to apply its core earth science and geospatial expertise to a wider array of industries engaged in the energy transition and assisting them to discover and de-risk the development of assets that include mining of rare earth and battery metals, geothermal, CCUS (blue hydrogen) and green hydrogen hubs.

Richard Bennett Chairman of Getech commented:
“With our renewed focus on assembling a Board designed to diversify across multiple industries involved in the energy transition, we are delighted to welcome Emma to the Board of Getech and we look forward to working closely with her. Emma’s significant ESG expertise, entrepreneurial background and her experience working for one of the world’s largest public companies will be of enormous value to Getech as we continue our ambitious growth strategy over the months and years to come.”

“Following the recent successful equity fundraising, Getech’s strategy continues to target ambitious sustainable growth and the Company is ensuring that it has the necessary skills to support our current customers and add value to new ones. By bringing Emma’s extensive cleantech and renewable energy expertise into the fold our offering is strengthened further.

I would also like to express both my personal and Getech’s gratitude to Chris Flavell for his support and dedication to the Company’s development over the previous 6 years. Chris’s expertise and support have been crucial over the period of his involvement in the Company”.
