21/02/2021

The site for the repair of tubing pipes of the TATNEFT branch in Turkmenistan began working at the end of January in the city of Balkanabat, with the support of the state concern "Turkmennebit". Heads of the Turkmennebit divisions got acquainted with the unit’s operation on February 5.

The operation start of the tubing maintenance site was a new step in expanding the range of oilfield services provided by TATNEFT in Turkmenistan. TATNEFT branch is already providing services to the Turkmennebit State Concern at present the in the way of wells workovers and ensuring enhanced oil recovery of wells, as well as for the repair of electric submersible centrifugal pumping units. Performance of geological and technological activities at the wells of the state concern "Turkmennebit" made it possible to produce over 300 thousand tonnes of crude oil.

Maintenance of tubing, used both in the well workover and in their operation, can reduce investment costs, involve unused assets in the crude oil production process, and increase the time wells MTBF by reducing failures due to pipe leaks.

TATNEFT repairs and widely operates recovered tubing at the Company’s own fields. According to statistical data the operating time of the recovered tubing amounts to 70-80% of the new pipes service life.

The Company now offers introduction of a similar service to the "Turkmennebit" oil-producing state concern, as well as to other companies in Turkmenistan. The tubing maintenance section located in Balkanabat includes such stages as washing, couplings backing off and spinning, inspection and threading, hydraulic testing of tubing, marking and final inspection. Today The throughput capacity of the unit is up to 12 pipes per hour today and it can be doubled, if necessary, without additional capital costs.

Professionals from Turkmenistan were hired and trained to work at the new production facility.

The project is managed almost completely remotely in the context of the limitations associated with the epidemiological situation in the world. The experts of TATNEFT at the head office with the support of the Company's branch employees in Turkmenistan successfully organized production and prepared the facility for operation despite of the existing difficulties.

Heads of divisions of the state concern "Turkmennebit" highly appreciated the quality of oilfield services provided by TATNEFT during the visit and confirmed their intentions to further expand cooperation.
