Aker Solutions senior VP charged in Malaysia over alleged false documentation

11/06/2021

An Aker Solutions manager in Malaysia is being questioned by the Malaysian authorities. In December last year, some media quoted anonymous sources from the Malaysian authorities alleging that Aker Solutions had provided incorrect information regarding the ownership of one of its local legal entities. The company is seeking further information about the current questioning but is confident that it fulfils applicable requirements for the set-up of its entities in Malaysia.

The documentation and information regarding the company set-up have been disclosed in all license renewal processes to verify that the companies meet the requirements for local licenses. In 2017, the licenses were renewed after clarification meetings with relevant authorities. The latest renewal of the licenses was in mid-2020.

Aker Solutions will continue to maintain an open and transparent dialogue with authorities in Malaysia. Together with the involved manager in Malaysia, the company will work on providing and clarifying additional information required by the authorities.

Aker Solutions does not expect the process to have any significant impact on operations in Malaysia.
