Ansila Energy (previously named Pura Vida Energy NL) is an Australian-based oil and gas explorer.

In the UK, Ansila has been formally awarded a single license comprising five blocks in quadrants 48 and 49 in the Southern North Sea.

In Poland, Ansila holds a 35% interest in the Gora Concession, onshore Poland, with both conventional and unconventional prospectivity.

Southern North Sea
Blocks 48/15c, 49/11c, 49/12d, 49/17b, 49/6c

Ansila has been formally awarded awarded a single license comprising five blocks in quadrants 48 and 49 in the Southern North Sea.

Within these blocks there are a number of gas fields to be re-developed and exploration prospects, all targeting gas within the Permian age Rotliegendes sandstone reservoirs.

 Phase   Field  Block
 Phase 1 Development  Victoria  49/17b
   Viking Wx  49/17b
Phase 2 Development  Audrey NW  48/15c
   Tethys NW  49/6c, 49/11c
 Exploration  Multiple Prospects  49/17b

An independent contingent resources review has recently been completed by Oilfield Production Consultants (OPC) Limited covering the intended Phase 1 Development Area confirming the contingent resources associated with the two fields as follows:

 Bfcf  Victoria  Viking Wx  Combined
 1C  84  62  161
 2C  125  90  217
 3C  177  124  285
 Best Technical Case  132  98  n/a

The Phase 2 development comprises the partially developed or undeveloped areas in Audrey NW and Tethys NW Fields.

The Exploration area comprises multiple structural prospects, close to proven accumulations with modern 3D seismic data coverage.

The next stage in the maturation of this portfolio will comprise the full field development planning on the Victoria and Viking Wx gas fields, further subsurface evaluation at Audrey NW and Tethys NW and a re-interpretation of the exploration fairway to identify further prospects and leads.

POLAND

Overview

  • Unconventional resource potential characterised by a tight Carboniferous gas bearing play
  • CPR estimate a 2C contingent resource associated with Siciny-2 of 1.6 Tcf of gas
  • 2C resource area covers 41.6 km²
  • Total Gora area is 693 km²
  • Potential for this unconventional play to extend across entire license

Prospectivity
The Gora concession covers a Carboniferous unconventional gas play, discovered with the Siciny-2 well drilled in 2012 and estimated to contain 2C contingent resources of 1.6 trillion cubic feet (Tcf) of gas.

 Contingent Resources  1C  2C  3C
 Siciny-2 (Tcf)  0.7  1.6  3.2
 Ansila 35% Interest  0.25  0.56  1.1

Operations
During the period December 2019 – February 2020 a two-stage fracture stimulation of the Carboniferous interval was successfully performed as part of an appraisal of the Siciny-2 well. Following well clean-up and flow-back of the frac fluid the presence of hydrocarbon gas in the reservoir was confirmed with free gas (methane) detected at the surface. However, the break-through of formation water following nitrogen assisted lifting of the frac fluid prevented a natural flow of gas from being establishing.

Following the fracture stimulation, a transient pressure build up test was conducted which indicated that a combination of lower than expected reservoir permeability and the presence of mobile water prevented a natural flow of gas from the reservoir from being established. This relative permeability effect, specific to a tight gas reservoir, means neither gas nor formation water could flow from the reservoir without assistance from nitrogen lift.

The Operator, Gemini Resources Limited, has outlined several potential technical routes to mitigate the relative permeability issue and aid the flow of free gas including:

  • The continuation of pumping to create a larger pressure differential to overcome reservoir capillary pressures;
  • The drilling of complex multi-frac horizontal wells with up to 20 fracs each to optimise production rates;
  • Drilling a new well at an optimised location, where a higher gas saturation may be encountered, with the potential to combine with a conventional Rotliegendes target to reduce the overall risk of the well.

Gora Concession (Conventional)

Overview

  • Gora holds multiple prospects within the conventional Rotliegendes interval
  • CPR Prospective Resources of 210 Bcf (best estimate)
  • Largest prospect (Rawicz North) has an estimated 110 Bcf with 24% CoS
  • Proven gas fairway surrounded by multiple large conventional gas fields

Prospectivity
Over 7 Tcf of gas has been discovered in the Rotliegendes in Poland to date with the Gora concession holding multiple prospects within a proven petroleum system as demonstrated by information from surrounding well control of adjacent conventional gas fields.

Several conventional prospects with  aggregate prospective (P50) resources of 210 Bcf1, and partially covered by 2D and 3D seismic, have been identified. The largest of these prospects is Rawicz North with a best case estimate of 110 Bcf of gas and 24% chance of success. These prospects are located adjacent to the proven Rawicz (c.94 Bcf – 2P reserves) and Zalecze-Wiewierz (900 Bcf) gas fields and offer Ansila additional upside on the Gora Concession to the unconventional Carboniferous gas play.

Prospective Resources (Bcf)  Low Case  Best Case  High Case
 Bronow  16.0  21.4  28.1
 Rawicz North  80.1  109.7  148.8
 Rawicz South  37.8  51.8  70.4
 Siciny  9.5  13.3  17.8
 Zuchlow West  10.0  13.3  17.6
 TOTAL  153.4  209.3  282.7
 Ansila 35% Interest  53.7  73.3  98.9

Operations
Reprocessed 3D seismic data which covers part of the Gora licence and specifically covers part of the Rawicz North prospect has been reviewed by the Operator, Gemini Resources Limited. The quality of this dataset has markedly improved the structural imaging of the conventional Rotliegendes prospects and will be used to generate a new inventory of drill-ready prospects across this part of the licence. Four new prospects have been identified in this part of the Gora license, but require further technical work to progress to the drill-ready stage.
