Aeon launch Beta version of the Public Data Repository

12/05/2021

Aeon have launced the Beta version of the Public Data Repository (PDR), using their software to host and integrate public domain data, providing a free-to-access platform for their usership to harness the breadth of subsurface available on the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS).

PDR is a lite version of the Aeon platform making it the perfect tool to harness the sizeable volumes of public domain subsurface data available on the UKCS. Aeon are committed to integrating QC’d data into the cutting edge platform to offer a unique tool for interrogating subsurface data to inform exploration, appraisal and development opportunities.

Aeon recognise the significant opportunity in using their cutting edge platform to bring together the varied & disparate subsurface data, providing a unique opportunity for the end user. PDR is open to all, providing users from the O&G sector, academia and beyond to explore this unique data set.  Acquired over decades of E&P activity on the UKCS, examples of data populated within PDR include:

  • Regional Geological Maps
  • Well Logs.
  • Prospect / Undeveloped Discovery Information
  • Source Rock Studies at Well & Regional Scales

How PDR can support you

The focus of this initiative is the Quality Controlled (QC’d) studies which have been delivered to the OGA through multiple service providers. These projects and studies include QC’d “ hard data” as well as interpretations and final reports, and are a key source of information which is distinct from the raw data available through the National Data Repository (NDR). Each deliverable has valuable technical results, but ultimately Aeon believe the true value in harnessing the potential of these data is to bring them together in an integrated manner that is easily navigated.

The company's vision for this product is to provide a platform for oil & gas companies of all sizes to have the ability to exploit the wealth of subsurface data on the UKCS. Interrogation of the data is possible on a local scale, looking at well results, interpretations and specific data in relation to a prospect, licence or block, and also on a regional scale using regional maps, well databases and reports. This makes it an ideal tool for supporting a range of business opportunities; an independent company assessing a single licence, a medium company using it for E&A portfolio management, or a new company entrant to the UKCS looking to effectively & efficiently screen opportunities.
