io awarded AGIG Hydrogen Blending Study

03/03/2021

io consulting has been awarded a contract by Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG) as part of its preparations for the Hydrogen Economy, to undertake a feasibility study to assess the impact of blending hydrogen into its Dampier to Bunbury Natural Gas Pipeline (DBNGP) Network, Australia’s longest natural gas pipeline. The project is focussing on identifying aspects of the existing facilities that may require further investigation / testing or replacement under a scenario of hydrogen being blended with the Natural Gas transported through the network.

This continues io’s track record associated with “at-scale” hydrogen production and its end use assessments as well as the assessment of re-purposing of existing infrastructure to enable Industry to meet its Net Zero targets and the Hydrogen Economy. io has also assessed repurposing of numerous pipelines around the globe for their potential use for transporting CO2 associated with carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects.

Richard Dyson, io’s CEO commented,
“We are delighted to have been selected to perform this important study supporting AGIG. This adds another key reference to our growing portfolio of energy transition projects covering hydrogen, carbon capture and storage, energy storage, net zero facilities and ghg reduction.”
