Siemens Gamesa to supply 92 wind turbines of its latest models to ten wind farms in Spain

Siemens Gamesa, leading manufacturer of wind turbines in Spain, continues to consolidate its strong position in the country with the signing of new contracts (1) to supply 289 MW to five different clients: Viesgo, Grupo Jorge, the General Irrigation Community of Alto Aragón and two important energy company. All these projects are part of the renewable power awarded in the last auctions. 

The company will install a total of 92 turbines in ten wind farms, located in Guadalajara, Lugo, Malaga, Zaragoza, Huesca, La Coruña and Cádiz. These deliveries will be made from October of this year according to each project. Also, the company will be responsible for the operation and maintenance tasks of all of them.

The majority of these machines correspond to two of the most leading and efficient models of the company: SG 3.4-132 (58 units) and SG 2.6-114 (28 units). The remaining six wind turbines are of the SG 2.1-114 model. 

Specifically, the company will supply Grupo Jorge with 23 wind turbines SG 3.4-132 (82 MW) for the Coscojar II and El Águila II parks, located in the towns of Pedrola and Plasencia de Jalón, Zaragoza, and will carry out the maintenance for ten years. 

For its part, Viesgo will deliver seven SG 3.4-132 (24 MW) machines for the El Marquesado wind project, located in Puerto Real (Cádiz), and will be in charge of the operation and maintenance tasks for 15 years.

In the case of the agreement with the General Irrigation Community of Alto Aragón, Siemens Gamesa will build turnkey El Balsón Park, which has nine SG 3.4-132 turbines, which represents a power of 31 MW. This park is located in Gurrea de Gállego (Huesca). 

In addition, it will supply 25 wind turbines -19 SG 3.4-132 and another 6 SG 2.1-114- to one of the energy companies for three wind farms located in Lugo, Malaga and Guadalajara, which have a capacity of 79 MW. While for the other, it will install 28 turbines of model SG 2.6-114 in three parks, two of them located in La Coruña. 

These new agreements add to the 352 MW that the company has announced in recent months in Spain.

These new contracts reinforce the company's leadership in Spain, where it stands as the first manufacturer with close to 55% of the total installed fleet (more than 12,500 turbines). 

In addition, Siemens Gamesa is responsible for the maintenance of more than 7,500 MW, about a third of the total installed capacity in the country. 

In Spain there is also one of the main R & D centers of the company, where more than 230 people are dedicated to the design of some of the latest wind turbine models of the company. In total, the company annually allocates nearly 400 million R & D investments worldwide. In addition, in Spain it is also located in the main global centers of production and supply with 15 factories.
