Senior appointment and strategic partnership in China strengthens FutureOn’s global footprint

26/01/2021

FutureOn, the global software company specialising in the energy sector and creator of the award-winning, SaaS field design applications, FieldAP, and its APIcentric collaboration platform, FieldTwin, has appointed Tracy Energy as its representatives in China and a Vice President of Asia Pacific, Suba Rohrman, to drive growth in the region.

Partnering with Tracy Energy, which has offices in Beijing, Shenzhen and Silicon Valley, California, will allow FutureOn to meet rapidly growing customer demand in Asia for its full suite of digital twin solutions, provide its customers with in-country, on-the-ground support, and ultimately help China’s operators accelerate the digitalisation of the region’s oil and gas industry.

Tracy Energy has built a proprietary toolkit TET-Suite, which is a world first, that allows operators to build reservoir models that are constrained by complex geological features using tetrahedral, prism and PEBI (perpendicular-bisectional) grids, as well as a highly competitive simulator to capture coupled geomechanical-flow dynamics in conventional and unconventional reservoirs.

The strategic partnership will also see both companies collaborate on a number of research projects and facilitate joint-software development, which will include reservoir twins in the production phase. These innovations will allow asset operators to fully visualise the well and reservoir dynamics, helping them to monitor, plan and optimise production in real-time.

According to recent reports, China’s oil and gas market is expected to grow at a CAGR of around 1.5% during the forecast period of 2020 to 2025. It is thought that this growing demand for energy is being driven by the rising population, which is expected to increase until 2035. This has resulted in the production of petroleum and other liquids in China increasing to 4.9 million barrels per day (mbpd).

This latest partnership follows the recent appointment of Suba Rohrman to the position of Vice President for FutureOn’s Asia-Pacific operations. Based in Australia, Suba will be responsible for leading the company’s growth strategy in the region, and working with Tracy Energy to bring digital solutions to the market to meet the needs of operators across Asia and Australia.

Having spent over 23 years in industry, Suba brings a wealth of industry experience to the role having held a number of senior technical and business consulting positions for oil and gas operators and service companies across the globe, which covered the UK and Nordics, to the United States and Asia Pacific markets. She has worked with companies including BP, Shell, Total, Halliburton, and Schlumberger

Suba Rohrman, Vice President of Asia Pacific at FutureOn, said:
“It is an exciting time to join FutureOn, the company has experienced significant global demand for its digital twin solutions in recent months. Partnering with Tracy Energy is a natural step as we focus on growing our international capabilities through a network of experienced and dedicated partners around the world.

“Despite the anticipated growth, China’s state-owned energy companies have had to make significant cuts in expenditure as a result of the 56% drop in oil prices in 2020, driven by the global pandemic. This means making operations more efficient and cost effective, even in the most complex and challenging conditions, has never been more important than it is today.

“We are looking forward to working in partnership with Tracy Energy to increase our presence in China. Having this calibre of expertise within the business means we can meet growing customer demand, deliver an unrivalled level of service tailored to regional needs, and continue to bring our transformational digital twin solutions to the local market to increase productivity and efficiencies.”
