Exprodat Releases Version 2.0 of Unconventionals Analyst for ArcGIS Pro

24/09/2020

Exprodat, the London-based petroleum geospatial experts, has released an enhanced version of its popular Unconventionals Analyst software for use within Esri’s powerful desktop GIS application, ArcGIS Pro.

Unconventionals Analyst for ArcGIS Pro v2.0 provides a host of new tools that further support geoscientists and reservoir engineers manage shale oil and gas, coal bed methane and tight sand play developments.

In challenging economic times, it is even more important to be able to maximise the returns from every investment. In significant enhancements to existing capabilities, Unconventionals Analyst for ArcGIS Pro v2.0 allows users to fit wells using a variety of new methods, enabling much more control over the overall well pattern and fill.

For example, users are able to model well sticks at oblique angles to pad fairways to help ensure that every lease has the maximum possible coverage of wells.

To support development planning and production forecasting, Unconventionals Analyst for ArcGIS Pro v2.0 adds the ability for users to estimate reserves for future undrilled wells using the SPEE recommended aggregation method of a Monte-Carlo simulation: a process of running a model numerous times with a random selection from the input distributions for each variable.

Chief Operating Officer of Exprodat, Chris Jepps explains more about the enhancements within his company’s latest software release and what this will mean for unconventional producers around the world; “The latest version of Unconventionals Analyst for ArcGIS Pro represents a significant step forward in support of well development planning and reserves management for onshore shale operations.

On the reserves side, we have migrated to ArcGIS Pro the capability to create hierarchical reserve halos around well locations to help operators easily calculate 1P, 2P and 3P acreage areas for reserve booking. Meanwhile, the addition of a geospatial Monte-Carlo simulation aggregation method for estimating reserves from as-yet undrilled wells is unique within commercial software and rounds-out our support for the PRMS recommended SPEE Monograph 3 reserves management workflow that is now essential best practice for any resource play development.”

“Alongside this, the enhancements we have added to Unconventionals Analyst’s well planning workflows – including more powerful well stick planning and the ability to model well pads to tie sticks to – mean it has never been easier to plan the most efficient well pattern over your acreage.”

This latest version of Unconventionals Analyst for ArcGIS Pro supports ArcGIS Pro versions 2.3, 2.4 and 2.6, and is now licenced using a simple online system.
