NEAG acquires wind energy project development portfolio

02/12/2020

NEAG Norddeutsche Energie AG has acquired a development pipeline of onshore wind energy assets with a planned total output of over 200 MW. As planned, this latest acquisition will put NEAG in the position of increasing the current portfolio with a capacity of approx. 320 MW to over 500 MW over a development period of 1 to 2 years. The company is reacting to the changed framework conditions in the markets for renewable energies and diversifying the investment portfolio both geographically and with regard to the project life cycle of the acquired projects - from planning, development to operation - with a balanced risk / return profile, including in the long term of the entire portfolio.

Even under the current difficult macroeconomic framework, the market for sustainable investments in renewable energies is increasingly developing characteristics of a " safe haven " for institutional investors, not least in terms of portfolio diversification . According to experts, energy generation from renewable sources is even heading for a new record in the coming year. The Global Wind Energy Councilexpects global wind power output to double in the next 4 years compared to 2019. “NEAG will continue to make a significant contribution to financing the energy transition in the future. The aim is to expand the portfolio of assets under management to more than 1 GW of nominal output by 2025, ”comments Ingo Stein, member of the board of directors at NEAG Norddeutsche Energie AG.
