Latest move reinforces Low Carbon’s ambition to deploy large-scale renewable infrastructure in key markets

Leading renewable energy company Low Carbon has announced its plans to grow its presence in Germany with an initial solar pipeline of more than 400 MW and the potential to develop a significant portfolio of renewable assets.

The first project, Weißholz (“Whitewood”) solar farm, located in the state of Brandenburg in Wusterhausen, is expected to enter construction in 2025 and will have a peak capacity of 63 MW with an expected production of 69 GWh. Once operational, it will avoid more than 35,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per annum and could power the equivalent of approximately 40,000 homes.

The project recently received municipality approval, marking a key milestone in its development, and now awaits the completion of environmental mapping and zoning changes.

In addition to the initial development pipeline of solar capacity, Low Carbon is actively exploring opportunities in wind and storage projects as it aims to expand its renewables portfolio in Germany.

Headquartered in Berlin, Low Carbon’s German operations are being led by Head of Development, Murad Can.
